Balushahi Recipe

The first time you might find the Balushahi Sweet has a shrewd similarity to the Western expressionless doughnuts. But there are still some things that make both these classic sweets diverse in their own way.

Ingredients

·         1½ cups 250 gm all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp baking powder

·         water as required,

  • ¼ cup 50 gm ghee / clarified butter
  • ¼ cup 65 gm curd/yogurt
  • oil for deep frying
  • 1 cup 250 gm sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • few threads of saffron
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder

 

Instruction

·         First, take 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour in a large mixing bowl.

  • Add ½ tsp sugar, ½ tsp baking powder and mix well.
  • Add ¼ cup ghee and beat the mixture.
  • Add ¼ cup curd and combine well.
  • Add ¼ cup water and start to make dosh without needing it.
  • Cover it with a moist cloth and remain it for about 15 minutes.
  • After the dough has rested for about 15 minutes, slightly knead the dough.
  • Squeeze a small ball-sized dough and make a ball.
  • Make a hollow at the center with the help of a thumb.
  • Deep fry in medium hot oil on low flame until the balls turn golden brown and crunchy.
  • Drop them into warm sugar syrup instantly.

·         Cover the badhusha with sugar syrup on both sides and immerse it for about 5 minutes.

  • Finally, serve the balushahi recipe decorated with few cut cashews.
