Crunchy French Fries

If you have a longing for crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside, perfectly salted French Fries, then look no further. I have a homemade Finger Chips recipe that will competitor anything the fast food chains can offer, all from the comfort of your own home. I share both the healthier air-fried technique and the traditional deep-frying method to make everyone’s favorite French Fries.

How to make crispy and crunchy French Fries?

1. First, take 1 extra-large potato, 2 large potatoes, or 3 medium potatoes equaling about 315 grams. Wash well in water and then peel the potato.

2. Now cut the potato into slices having 1 cm thickness. Before slicing, you can remove the top and bottom parts of the potato to get a rectangle-shaped or square-shaped potato.

3. Cut the potatoes into sticks 1 cm in width.

4. Wash these potato sticks a couple of times in water. Add the wash potatoes to a bowl and remain them in cold water for 30-50 minutes to remove non-usable starch.

5. After 30 minutes or 50 minutes, drain the potatoes in a utensil.

6. Wash the potatoes with running water. Evacuate all the extra water.

7. Then place them on a clean kitchen cotton towel.

8. Fold the towel over to pat, press, and dry the potatoes. The potatoes have to be completely dried before you begin to cook them.

9. Heat oil in a wok or pan over medium or low-medium heat, depending on the firmness of your pan.

10. Now, add the potatoes to the oil. Do not overcrowd the wok or pan. The oil will crackle and bubble less when you fry the potatoes at this temperature.

11. Mix in gaps while frying them for uniform cooking.

12. Fry in oil for about 3 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked.

13. Place the half-fried potatoes on kitchen towels. Assemble 3 to 4 paper towels. Press some paper towels from the top also to absorb extra oil. Let the half-fried potatoes cool down to room temperature.

14. Now increase the flame to medium or high. Keep in mind for a heavy pan, use a high flame and for a less heavy pan, use a medium-high flame. The oil should be having a temperature of 180 to 185 degrees Celsius.

15. Add the first stack of once-fried potatoes to the hot oil. The oil will crackle and bubble quickly as soon as you add the potatoes.

16. Mix frequently while the potatoes fry to cook them evenly.

17. Fry French fries for 3 minutes or until crunchy and golden. The edges should become golden.

18. Remove finger chips with a big spoon.

19. Place French fries on paper or kitchen cloth again to remove the extra oil.

20. While still hot, take the French fries in a bowl. Sprinkle with some paprika, salt, red chili flakes, dried herbs, or dry rosemary.

21. Gently shake and mix the bowl so that the salt, herbs, etc.

22. Serve French fries hot with any ketchup or sauce of your own choice.
